Celebrating 55 Years with Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC)
The Tofel Dent team recently attended the 55th Chicanos Por La Causa Anniversary Celebration on Friday, October 4th. The event was held at the beautiful venue Warehouse 215 in Downtown Phoenix. Several members of our organization were in attendance for this milestone celebration. The sense of community, connection, partnership, and festivity reverberated throughout the event. The event’s vision, “Desde La Raíz” or “From the Root,” underscored how important it is to serve and support our diverse communities.
Alicia Nunez, President and CEO of CPLC, delivered a powerful speech about the history of CPLC, emphasizing the strength of unity in building momentum to preserve and empower our communities.
We heard from several remarkable speakers, the 2024 honorees, including:
- Dr. Cecilia Rosales, recipient of the first-ever CPLC Legacy of Change Award
- Tom Perez, White House Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Civil Rights and Social Justice Advocate
- John Leguizamo, Emmy and Tony Award-Winning Comedian, Actor & Producer
Each honoree shared their experiences with Chicanos Por La Causa and within their communities. John Leguizamo pre-recorded a message for the audience, expressing his appreciation for CPLC and his gratitude to the Chicano community.
Tofel Dent Construction is currently partnering with CPLC on the project, Residences on Main in Mesa, Arizona. Residences on Main is a 198-apartment multifamily, mixed-use project, developed by Chicanos Por La Causa. The site is positioned at the gateway to downtown Mesa and encourages foot traffic by creating a desert pocket park and a landscape promenade. It has an on-site bus stop and is adjacent to a light rail station, drawing visitors to the project’s ground-floor retail spaces. This project design provides opportunities for pedestrians, bicyclists, bus riders, light rail passengers, and motorists to enjoy the site’s amenities simultaneously while connecting to the existing retail development on Main Street. We are proud to be part of CPLC’s legacy and future presence throughout Arizona.
“Everything originates from our roots…we need to stay grounded in our roots. We must keep our mission ever-present; we are here to empower our community.” – Alicia Nunez, President and CEO, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC)
Tofel Dent is proud to partner with so many impactful organizations throughout the Desert Southwest. Congratulations Chicanos Por La Causa: we look forward to seeing many more abundant years of success for your organization.
