Supporting Affordable Housing Through Partnership
Tofel Dent Construction joined supporters, partners, and community leaders for an inspiring morning at the 2026 Power of Home Southwest Breakfast. Tofel Dent Construction is proud to support Mercy Housing’s mission to create stable, affordable homes and thriving communities as this year’s Platinum Sponsor. It has now been one year since the completion of The Cascalote, also known as Glendale Senior, an affordable housing community with dedicated housing for seniors transitioning out of homelessness. Developed in collaboration with Mercy Housing, our team knew this project would have a positive impact on the community. However, hearing directly from one of the residents was both rewarding and a powerful reminder of how affordable housing can transform lives for those who need it most.
Gail’s Story: From Homelessness to Housing Stability
During the Power of Home Southwest Breakfast, attendees watched Gail’s Story, a heartwarming and inspiring account from a resident of The Cascalote (Glendale Senior). Gail, a senior citizen, was living out of her car on and off for 18 years and experiencing the constant uncertainty and trauma that comes with homelessness, which had completely shattered her trust in others.
“When you’re living out of your car, there’s a lot of stuff you can’t have,” said Gail.
How Affordable Senior Housing Changes Lives
The Cascalote (Glendale Senior) not only provides homes for individuals who are unhoused or at risk of becoming unhoused, but also offers wraparound services and counseling designed to help residents remain stably housed long term. Stories like Gail’s demonstrate why Tofel Dent Construction is proud to be in a position to make a meaningful impact by working alongside community leaders throughout Arizona and the Southwest, including organizations like Mercy Housing.

The Real Estate Partner Award is presented to an outstanding partner whose expertise, collaboration, and shared commitment have helped advance Mercy Housing’s mission. While we are grateful to receive this recognition, we are even more grateful for the opportunity to contribute to projects that strengthen communities and create opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
Celebrating Leadership and Service
Tofel Dent Construction is fortunate to have leadership that is deeply committed to serving others. This year, Jim Tofel, one of our Managing Partners, was also recognized with the Heart of Mercy Award, which honors an individual whose leadership and commitment to service embody Mercy Housing’s mission. We could not think of anyone more deserving. Jim consistently goes above and beyond to create lasting impact and opportunities for people across the communities we serve.
Building Stronger Communities Through Housing
Strong communities begin with stable housing. Working alongside Mercy Housing has been a meaningful experience for our team, reinforcing our shared commitment to respect, justice, and mercy. Together, we continue pursuing the vision expressed by founder Sister Timothy Marie O’Roark:
“We can do better.”
That belief continues to guide our partnership and our work. We are proud to support Mercy Housing and look forward to many more years of collaboration focused on building stronger, more vibrant communities throughout the Southwest.
